Where we come from, and where we're going
Adfam was founded in 1984 by the mother of a heroin addict who could not find the support she needed for herself. This is the pattern in which many support groups have been founded. Over the last 26 years Adfam has evolved into an umbrella organisation which not only helps families, but also helps other groups who share Adfam’s independent history; Adfam also works closely with government and other bodies to ensure that families are kept on the agenda in wider discussion of ‘the drug problem’.
