My Son

Posted by Steff on 6 October 2017.

My 32 year old son has for the past 8 years caused me and my hubby endless heartbreak and anxiety, he is the most gorgeous looking guy and such a charmer .BUT he has bullimia and is a cocaine abuser , he has cost me thousands (not anymore since i realised i was enabeling him) He has used my credit cards, stolen money, threatened my hubby.
Every time we try to talk e becomes aggresive and it frightens us .He makes out its our fault and every one else's. He had a great relationship for a year with his new girlfriend and moved in with her .we were so happy for him he was working hard and seemed happy and Normal.2 weeks ago he came back home after they split up. He has not been to work , going out at 6am in morning probably to party! He took my bank card and used it .That was the final straw .Do i call police or do i just ride out the storm again .

Hi Steff,

I am sorry to read your story and to see what a very difficult situation you are in , having to make some really hard choices.
If you think it would help to talk with one of our experienced, trained volunteers please contact The Icarus Trust. We are a charity that provides support for people ,like yourself , who are having to deal with the addictive behaviour of someone close. Maybe talking with one of them, who would understand what you are facing, might help you to see the way ahead.
You can contact us on or visit the website
Wishing you all the very best.
